Heather Iler
Ms. Iler began her training at the Toledo Ballet with Marie Vogt. She continued her training at several of the most prestigious ballet programs, including the School of American Ballet, Mikhail Baryshnikov’s School of Classical Ballet, the School for the American Ballet Theater, and the San Francisco Ballet School. She then joined Miami City Ballet, where she performed corps, soloists, and principal roles in numerous ballets. She has also danced with Richmond Ballet and Ballet
Met. Ms. Iler has been on faculty with the Miami City Ballet School, The Reston Conservatory Ballet, The Toledo Ballet, the Ballet Theater of Toledo, and the St. Louis Ballet School. In addition, she was the company ballet mistress for St. Louis Ballet with Gen Horiuchi, where she rehearsed numerous Balanchine and classical ballets and works by Michael Uthoff and Christopher D’Amboise.
Four years ago, she was invited to join the full-time faculty of Cary Ballet Conservatory (CBC). This school year, she was appointed director of the CBC ballet program and associate artistic director of the Cary Ballet Company. While at CBC, Ms. Iler has expanded the artistic opportunities for students by bringing in notable dance choreographers to set original choreography, training students for YAGP, and expanding the artistic vision and curriculum of CBC. Ms. Iler firmly believes that all dancers deserve the best, most complete training, regardless of age, skill, or facility. This philosophy imparts to all the passion and joy of dance, whether they are destined for a professional life or simply one enriched with the love of movement.
