Lauren Tenney
A native of Temperance, Michigan, Lauren Tenney began her training under Nigel Burgoine at the Ballet Theatre of Toledo. She continued her professional ballet training with Nutmeg Conservatory of the Arts, where she earned the Dona Neri Award for outstanding achievement, and Ellison Ballet Professional Training Program, where she trained on scholarship and received awards and recognition from the prestigious competition, Youth America Grand Prix.
Ms. Tenney started her professional ballet career with Lexington Ballet and later joined Rochester City Ballet, where she excelled in classical and contemporary ballet.
Alongside her professional career, Ms. Tenney has been on faculty with Lexington Ballet School, Draper Center for Dance Education, and Hochstein School of Music and Dance.
In addition, she served as Trainee Director of the New York State Ballet. Under her leadership and guidance, her students gained recognition and received awards at Youth America Grand Prix and World Ballet Competition.
Ms. Tenney joined the faculty of the Cary Ballet Conservatory in 2020. A firm believer in everything the conservatory stands for, Ms. Tenney looks forward to her continued growth with the school and the students in the coming years.
